Mark Twain’s 9 Tips For Living An Awesome Life

I found this on tumblr. Check it out, it goes much more in depth. But here's the basics, all great insights.

1. Approve of yourself.

“A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval.”

2. Your limitations may just be in your mind.

“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”

3. Lighten up and have some fun.

“Humor is mankind’s greatest blessing.”

“Against the assault of laughter nothing can stand.”

4. Let go of anger.

“Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.”

5. Release yourself from entitlement.

“Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.”

6. If you’re taking a different path, prepare for reactions.

“A person with a new idea is a crank until the idea succeeds.”

7. Keep your focus steadily on what you want.

“Drag your thoughts away from your troubles… by the ears, by the heels, or any other way you can manage it.”

8. Don’t focus so much on making yourself feel good.

“The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.”

9. Do what you want to do.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did so. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

It's really weird, really weird.

If you haven't seen this yet, please enjoy. And in case you were wondering, Taylor and Zac are NOT dating, because Zac is dating me. Yep... it's true.

Getting so excited for the NACA Conference in Charlotte, NC. I leave on Saturday, just have to get through two more days of lots of homework! Hope all of you lovelies are getting all your to-dos checked off your list and having a splendid week.

Alex

PS: It was my first day at my new internship, doing typical intern stuff, but the girl was nice. Overall, not too bad, and excited to see how it goes!

Good things ahead.

1. NACA National Conference in Charlotte, NC

2. My new internship (in an excited but vaguely anxious, nervous and scared way)

3. Finishing Catching Fire, and starting the third Hunger Games book

4. Spring Break visiting my twin!

5. Picking a farm to work on this summer

6. VEGAS for my 21st

7. My future that holds so much potential I can't wait to watch it all unfold and enjoy getting there!

I just have to remember through all the work, there are good things to come, and there are many good things happening right now.

Enjoy the ride everyone,
Alex

Tunesday.

I love this song and stumbled upon it once again and reminded me of how great it is.

Check it out.

All I want is love eternally. Perfect for Valentines day, couldn't have planned it better. My class was cancelled in honor of this holiday, and I'll take it, date or not! I'm going to enjoy some me time, in my pajamas, catching up on One Tree Hill and reading more Catching Fire. Who needs a date?! Unless you have one, then go enjoy a good dinner and pretty flowers.

Tune out, unwind and enjoy pretty people.

Paul & Palooza.

Paul Rudd is one of those guys you just can't help but adore. He is so cute and charming, and it was a pleasant surprise to find this video on another blog I was reading. The advice was silly, but it was so cool to see him talking, and hilarious to hear his answers.

Anyways, happy to have my test done after today and on to more homework and getting ready for Devilpalooza with All American Rejects on Friday! Woo! So ready to sing along to Swing Swing like I'm back in 7th grade (Was it really that long ago?! Crazy... yet still a classic!) dancing on my trampoline in my backyard. I'll just be singing along to it 10 years older and backstage working at the concert this time. Hope to see you there or enjoying some weekend treat!

Enjoy the day!

Nail News

So I've had a strong urge to paint my nails or get them done this past week or so. My boss has the Sally Hansen Salon Effect nail polish strips and I'm obsessed. Ever since I've been catching glimpses of the wonderful patterns in magazine pages all over I have been dying to try them. I think I might just go out and grab some this weekend. Any suggestions of which I should try? I'm leaning toward the lace ones, or maybe the multi-colored glitter or flowers. Hopefully they won't chip since my polish has a tendency of chipping after a couple frisbee practices. So sad.

I have also been lusting over the nail art pens from Sally Hansen. I swear I've wanted these things since like 8th grade, and I have yet to get them! I even asked for them for Christmas - and no luck! There are so many cool designs to be created on the canvas of my nails like this cute, festive idea from SweatShirtDressShirt.

What nail treat have you been meaning to try? Have you ever tried the polish strips? I want to hear all about it!

Have a happy week everyone! School is crazy right now, so don't stress too much!

Crack the spine.

I say I love books, but I think all of our stories are extraordinarily interesting. They are real, and they are special, we just don’t realize it because we get to experience it every single day.

I absolutely love reading. It's such a great escape, so enlightening, and so magical! I had the chance to read a few books over winter break. I think it's so cool how each book I read I learn a lesson from. I read The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing and I didn't learn to hunt, nor did I learn about fishing, instead I learned about the pursuit of love, and always being yourself even when you feel like you need to be so utterly cool and flawless to make a guy like you. I also read Betty White's book, If You Ask Me... and of Course You Won't and laughed and learned. There's so much to life, she's ninety and still having a ball! I still have 70 more years to live this joyous life.. how awesome is that?! I'm pretty excited for it, or happy with it because it's happening right now!

Any ways, I'm reading The Hunger Games right now. I'm stalling on the last few pages because I haven't gotten the sequel yet. It's so good and so different than anything I would have chosen myself, thanks so all the popularity I got branch out and totally escape into this whole new world of the book. That sounds completely nerdy, oh well! Read it if you haven't yet, and don't spoil it for me if you have!

Grab a good book (not a textbook for a class!) and start a good book this week!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

Dig it.

So my friends and I in my entrepreneurship class are figuring out ways to build community and give back. We've had tons of ideas come and go, and some still lingering. One idea that has stuck with me is the idea of a community garden. We have an urban garden here in Tempe, but it isn't open to the public. How great would it be to have an open space for people to come, be connected to each other and the earth, interact and relax. I think my group is on to something, and it's really exciting.

Do you have any community gardens near you? Would you benefit from one, or like to go to one to get your hands dirty, have some fresh food, or even just hang out in a cool setting? Let me know, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

That's all for now, on to another late night Thursday meeting. Oh joy!

Happy Groundhog's Day!
